Family owned since 1982

Vera and Tony Giordano immigrated to the United States from Italy when they were teenagers. They met in New York in 1958, and married in 1961. Tony worked as a butcher and Vera as a manicurist in the Bronx where they had their three children, Joanne, Rosemarie, and Dominic. Vera and Tony had always dreamed of owning their own business. In 1975 they moved to the Hudson Valley. In June of 1982 Vera and Tony purchased the Philipstown Farm Market in Cold Spring, New York. By 1990 they had expanded the business to include five greenhouses full of flowers that Tony would plant and tend to himself. As a child, Tony grew up as a farmer in Italy so growing quality plants came naturally.

The Giordano family passionately ran this business with the help from family, friends and grandchildren. In the 90's Dominic became part owner and strived to modernize their business. Sadly, Tony passed away in 2007, and Dominic and Joanne Giordano took the business under their wing, to renovate and grow. They began making their famous apple cider donuts, and in 2009 they changed their name to Vera's Marketplace and Garden Center, because the business had become known as "Vera's" among locals. In 2013 they started to rent part of the facility to a local coffee shop and butcher shop. In 2014 Vera's won the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Award for Small Business of the Year. Today, they continue to provide great local and organic products and beautiful flowers and service to the community. But what make's Vera's so special is how loving, generous, and supportive Vera is. Everyone is treated like family at Vera's.
